Arsenal reportedly ready to revisit Julian Alvarez move in winter

WHAT HAPPENED
Reports say Alvarez was Arsenal’s primary striker target during the summer but did not move after setting his sights on Barcelona. Atletico were reportedly reluctant to negotiate with Barcelona, and Barcelona have since distanced themselves from the World Cup winner. That apparent cooling of Barcelona’s interest has, the reports add, increased the possibility of Alvarez considering a move to Arsenal; Teamtalk is cited as saying the player would be open to joining the London club at the start of the year.
KEY CONTEXT
The reports emphasise that nothing is final: the central question remains whether Arsenal will decide to pursue Alvarez in the winter window. The articles also link the potential transfer to squad movement the other way — a deal for Alvarez could force Arsenal to seek a new club for striker Viktor Gyokeres.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
According to the coverage, any fresh approach for Alvarez would take place when the transfer window reopens this winter. Separately, Atletico have been linked with Gyokeres from his time at Sporting CP, and the reports suggest a move to Madrid for Gyokeres could be considered as a separate deal.
