Arteta: Arsenal 'extremely poor' after 3-0 defeat at Brighton

WHAT HAPPENED
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta criticised his players after a 3-0 Premier League defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion, saying the team were "extremely poor technically and not respecting the game." He added: "A really disappointing result and performance. Brighton were another gear up from us."

KEY CONTEXT
Arsenal went into the match on the back of a nine-match winning league run stretching to last season but were second-best on the day. The Gunners were wasteful in front of goal, with Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz both guilty of missing clear-cut chances as Brighton recorded a 3-0 victory.

STANDINGS NOTE
Despite the loss, Arsenal remain only behind Manchester City on goal difference. Manchester City, however, have a game in hand against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
