Glen Kamara could miss QPR’s game with West Ham after Finland withdrawal dispute

Queens Park Rangers may be without midfielder Glen Kamara for their upcoming fixture against West Ham United after the club withdrew him from Finland’s squad before a UEFA Nations League game. The Football Association of Finland says QPR pulled Kamara out of the national team camp ahead of Tuesday’s match with Hungary.
REGULATIONS
FIFA rules state a player released for international duty must be available to their nation for the entire international window unless an earlier return is separately agreed. A withdrawn player may not play for their club for five days after the end of the window without the national association’s consent. Friday’s game with West Ham is scheduled three days after the end of the international window.
RESPONSES
Finland’s head coach Jacob Friis said: "Glen was in a difficult situation as his club insisted he leave the camp and return to London. He had to make a decision that was obviously not what we wanted." Marco Casagrande, general secretary of the Finnish FA, told Helsingin Sanomat: "The regulations are very clear, and in our view, they were not fully followed in this case. Fifa will definitely be informed. The player has not been available for the entire international window, as the regulations say he should be. After that, it's up to Fifa how they proceed with the matter." QPR manager Julien Stephan said: "There is a dialogue between the club and the Finland federation. We will take a decision after that discussion."
PLAYER FORM AND CONTEXT
Kamara, 30, is on loan at QPR from Rennes and has featured in seven of their eight Championship matches this season, starting three and appearing as a substitute in four. QPR sit sixth in the table. For Finland this international window he did not play against San Marino, was substituted at half-time versus Belarus and was brought on after 45 minutes against Albania.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
The Finnish FA has indicated it will inform FIFA; any formal intervention would determine whether Kamara is eligible to play for QPR within the post-window period. QPR and the Finland federation say they are in talks and will decide after those discussions.
