Guimaraes winner rescues Arsenal as Hincapie is carried off after warm‑down
WHAT HAPPENED
Bruno Guimaraes came off the bench to score the winner as Arsenal recovered from going behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. The £75m summer signing has now scored two goals this season that have directly earned points for his side; both came from outside the box and he is the first player this season to score twice from the bench.

Concern over Piero Hincapie
Ecuador international Piero Hincapie was carried off during the post-match warm-down, prompting concern that he may have suffered an injury. Hincapie had come on as a late substitute against Daniel Farke’s side and completed extra running after the final whistle, a routine many clubs use, before he was helped off.

KEY CONTEXT
Arsenal’s win was their fifth in six league games and moved Mikel Arteta’s team level on points with leaders Manchester City. The victory followed a 3-0 defeat at Brighton and continued a trend of the side falling behind in matches — Arsenal have trailed in three of their last four league games. Only a penalty save from David Raya prevented them from going behind at Sunderland earlier in the season; Guimaraes had also been influential there, scoring the opening goal in a 2-0 win in September.

Arteta on Guimaraes
Mikel Arteta said: "He wasn't at that level against Brighton, and this is the level for Arsenal. Every week, every game, every minute, every action, you have to be at that level. Today was much better. That's what we have to demand, and this is what I demand to myself. I'm going to demand the same with the players, because if we do that, he will raise the standards and we will be a better team."

Defensive questions
Arsenal conceded five goals in their opening six league matches this season, after finishing last campaign with the fewest goals conceded. The partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba was highlighted in the match report as among the best in the world, and the side were noted as missing the injured Frenchman's calmness.
