Hull sign Ansah and close on Norton-Cuffy
WHAT HAPPENED
Hull City have completed the signing of forward Ilyas Ansah from Union Berlin on a five-year contract. The deal was reported as worth €15m up front, with up to €12m in add-ons.

The club have also agreed a £12m deal to bring right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Genoa. As part of the same activity, full-back Cody Drameh is expected to move the other way, with Genoa set to pay about £3.4m for him.

KEY CONTEXT
- Ansah is a Germany Under-21 international, will turn 22 in November, stands 6ft 4in and scored five goals in 36 appearances for Union Berlin last season.
- Norton-Cuffy spent two seasons with Genoa, came through Arsenal’s academy and was a member of the England Under-21 team that retained the European Championship in Slovakia in 2025.
- Hull have been heavily active in the transfer window, this marks their 13th arrival of the summer, and the club have started the Premier League season with two victories following a nine-year absence from the top flight.
- Hull are also reported to be close to signing Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam after agreeing a package worth £22m.

WHY IT MATTERS
These moves bolster Hull’s spine in both attack and defence with young internationals: Ansah adds a tall forward option and Norton-Cuffy strengthens the right-back slot. The spending underlines Hull’s ambitious recruitment since promotion, and the incoming players arrive while the team is enjoying an encouraging start back in the Premier League.
