Joshua Zirkzee prepared to pursue January exit from Manchester United

WHAT HAPPENED
Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is prepared to look for a new challenge in the January transfer window, according to reports. He has yet to start a game for the club under manager Michael Carrick this season.

KEY CONTEXT
Everton tried to sign Zirkzee on loan in the summer and are understood to be likely to return for the Dutch striker in January. Serie A clubs are also expected to show interest, creating competition for his signature.

United have already begun searching for a new striker and are reportedly considering Jean-Philippe Mateta. Mateta had been keen to leave Crystal Palace over the summer before a hamstring injury, and he is expected to depart at the turn of the year.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
All parties are expected to be active during the winter window, with potential moves for Zirkzee and activity around Mateta linked to January transfer plans.
