Sanctions and procedure
The FA charge stated: "It was alleged that the player acted in an improper manner around the 71st minute of the fixture." Krystian Bielik subsequently admitted the charge. "An independent Regulatory Commission imposed these sanctions following a hearing, and the written reasons for its decisions will be published in due course."
What happened
The incident occurred late in the second half as Bielik went to retrieve a ball from the crowd. He was involved in a physical altercation with a fan; several Portsmouth supporters made gestures indicating they believed the fan had been grabbed by the throat. Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy said Bielik "got slapped in the face," and clips circulating on social media appeared to show the player grabbing a young fan around his upper body. Hampshire Police carried out an investigation and concluded no further action was required; Bielik provided an apology as part of the resolution.
Aftermath
In the same sequence, another supporter threw a ball at the head of Cardiff defender Perry Ng; both supporters were ejected from Fratton Park. Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho apologised to Cardiff's players after the game, and after being shown footage he said he was "absolutely furious" at the position he says he was put in.
What happens next
Bielik is set to miss Cardiff's Championship trip to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and the home match against Watford on Tuesday, 13 October.
