Man United vs Tottenham: Predicted 4-2-3-1 as Yoro could be benched
Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on October 10, 2026, with Michael Carrick naming a number of absentees and a 4-2-3-1 setup widely tipped as his selection. United have five points from five Premier League matches and, Carrick says, need a big win to kick-start their season.

WHAT HAPPENED
Carrick confirmed several players unavailable: Patrick Dorgu, Noussair Mazraoui and Benjamin Sesko are injured. Matthijs de Ligt and Manuel Ugarte remain long-term absentees. Carlos Baleba could make his Manchester United debut, although Carrick has indicated he is unlikely to start.

A predicted 4-2-3-1 shows Senne Lammens as goalkeeper with a back four of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw. Youri Tielemans and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to hold midfield, Bruno Fernandes is projected at number 10, Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo on the wings, and Matheus Cunha leading the line. Benjamin Sesko is out again with a shin injury.

LENY YORO AND THE BENCH DECISION
Leny Yoro — fresh from a France debut in which he won every duel he contested and completed 93% of his passes — is a notable presence in the matchday squad, but he may have to settle for a place on the bench.

WHY IT MATTERS
With United struggling for points early in the campaign, selection choices around new signings and recent international arrivals carry added attention. A positive result at Old Trafford would be important for momentum.
