Northern Ireland draw Georgia 0-0, finish Nations League window unbeaten
Northern Ireland sealed a four-game Uefa Nations League window unbeaten but left Windsor Park frustrated after a 0-0 draw with Georgia on Monday.

WHAT HAPPENED
Isaac Price saved a penalty in the 83rd minute, the most glaring missed chance to turn the game into a win. Ruairi McConville had earlier hit the bar in the sequence that led to the spot-kick, while Paddy Kelly and Josh Magennis also missed promising opportunities. Magennis told BBC Sport NI he was "bitterly disappointed" to take only a point. This result followed another 0-0 in Belfast against Hungary last week, meaning both home games in the window finished goalless.

KEY CONTEXT
The four-game block represented a major step for Michael O'Neill's side. Northern Ireland collected eight points across 11 days — a sharp contrast with their earlier Nations League record, when their first nine points came over 17 matches. The group also included away victories in Georgia and against Ukraine (the latter a 3-0 win in Slovakia), and the team kept four successive clean sheets. That defensive run left them the only side in the competition yet to concede a goal.

Squad management during the condensed schedule saw O'Neill use just 15 different starters across the four matches. Conor Bradley missed the window and Daniel Ballard was only fit for the opening game before a hamstring injury; Ethan Galbraith missed the Ukraine match to attend the birth of his child. Despite those absences, younger players were prominent: Ruairi McConville (21) and Tom Atcheson (20) impressed at centre-back, Ciaron Brown started all four games, and Kieran Morrison, Terry Devlin and Brodie Spencer drew praise after featuring against Ukraine. Fulham midfielder Shea Charles — who, along with Trai Hume, showed "Premier League pedigree" according to the coverage — said: "It was a hard camp, a lot different to what any of us have experienced before, and I thought we dealt with it really well. We've won two away games, drew two at home, no goals conceded, there's not many complaints. I think we've been really good."

WHY IT MATTERS
O'Neill described the window as "one of the most enjoyable" of his time in charge, crediting the players' attitude and suggesting the group depth was tested and held up during an intense schedule.
