Peterborough reject Forest Green claim of illegal approach for Robbie Savage
WHAT HAPPENED
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has rejected claims from Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince that Posh made an illegal approach to speak to and appoint Robbie Savage.

Vince told BBC Radio Gloucestershire he initially refused Peterborough permission to speak to Savage and accused the League One club of going directly to the manager before appointing him on 2 October. He said: "He was a friend... so I said 'fine, go and talk to them'" and added that when Peterborough subsequently spoke to Savage it amounted to "an illegal approach."

MacAnthony responded on X, saying the club's process to appoint a new manager was "100% correct and proper, following all the rules." He described his long experience as an EFL owner and defended the handling of the appointment.

BACKGROUND
Late last month Forest Green confirmed Savage, 51, had been given permission to speak to another club and later announced he had been offered the Peterborough job following Luke Williams's departure.

Vince said negotiations left Savage "stuck in the middle," alleging Peterborough made a verbal offer then denied it and moved on to a second choice before Forest Green told Peterborough to take Savage. Vince also said Savage had an "intense personal need to leave" and that Forest Green prioritised the manager's welfare.

NEXT STEPS
Forest Green have not confirmed whether they will contact the Football Association about the matter.

MATCH CONTEXT
Savage's first league win as Peterborough boss came in a 3-1 victory at his former club Leicester City on Saturday. Peterborough host Burton Albion this weekend in Savage's first home league game in charge.
