Rangers bolster wing options with signing of Minsu

Rangers have signed 20-year-old Minsu Kim from Girona for an undisclosed fee, on a four-year contract with the option of a further year. The move was confirmed by the club as their 12th summer arrival, and manager Derek McInnes said the signing strengthens the club’s attacking options.
Kim arrives after a season on loan at second-tier Andorra and with prior experience at Girona B and Girona’s first team. Rangers added him alongside other attacking recruits this window.
KEY CONTEXT
- Kim spent last season on loan at Andorra in Spain’s second tier, where he scored six goals and provided four assists in 40 appearances.
- At Girona, he made eight senior appearances and produced 19 goals in 84 outings for Girona B.
- Rangers have been actively seeking wide players this summer; other signings include Djeidi Gassama, Findlay Curtis, Ross McCausland and Daisuke Yokota.
- The club had earlier been linked with PSV’s Couhaib Driouech — a move that did not proceed while the player carried a minor injury — and made a £7.5m bid for Brighton’s Amario Cozier-Duberry that was rejected.
WHY IT MATTERS
The addition boosts Rangers’ depth on the flanks after an identified transfer focus on forward areas. Kim’s record at youth and second-tier senior level suggests he brings attacking output and versatility that the manager believes will add “another exciting dimension” to the squad. For a club that has been actively recruiting wide players, a young, goal-producing winger provides competition and options as McInnes integrates his new arrivals.
