Robbie Savage urges Peterborough mentality shift ahead of Leicester debut
Robbie Savage has challenged his new Peterborough squad to change their "mentality" after taking charge this week and overseeing a 4-1 EFL Trophy win over Ipswich Town U21s.

Savage, who was named as Luke Williams' successor on Friday and left Forest Green last week, said the victory — four goals in nine first-half minutes — should provide a blueprint for the style he wants at the club. "We've got to get rid of this mentality of let's stop the opposition, it's about them. No, it's about us," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

WHAT HAPPENED
Savage's side secured a place in the EFL Trophy last 32 with the win. He described his approach as "a tough way to play, it's a relentless way to play. It's high energy," adding that "we will concede goals the way we play, I accept that... it's a positive start, but the fans have gone away happy."

KEY CONTEXT
The 51-year-old said he wants Peterborough to focus on their own game and entertain supporters, noting the club will be taking more than 3,200 fans to their upcoming match. He also told supporters that "these players are underachieving, if we can get the best out of them we can beat anybody."

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Savage will be on the touchline for his opening League One game at Leicester City on Saturday.
