Shea Charles says Northern Ireland are 'buzzing' after unbeaten Nations League window
Northern Ireland midfielder Shea Charles has described a strong atmosphere around the national side after they completed the extended Nations League international window unbeaten and top of League B Group 2.

WHAT HAPPENED
Charles highlighted the mood inside the squad following four fixtures in which Northern Ireland did not concede a goal — they were the only team in this year's competition to achieve that during the window. The run comprised a win away to Georgia, a goalless draw at Windsor Park with Hungary, an emphatic victory over Ukraine in Trnava and a 0-0 home draw with Georgia.

KEY CONTEXT
Manager Michael O'Neill used the longer international window to give game time to several emerging players. Liverpool youngster Kieran Morrison made his competitive debut, while centre-backs Ruairi McConville, 21, and Tom Atcheson, 20, were singled out for positive performances. Ceadach O'Neill also featured and, after earning his fourth cap, can no longer switch international allegiance.

Charles welcomed the balance of results and the squad's response to pressure. "I think everyone in the country is buzzing at the moment," he said, adding that the team felt the same in the dressing room and that he "couldn't be happier" to be top of the group. He also noted the team's professionalism in close games and the chances created at home, expressing confidence that goals will come.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Reflecting on the window and the young squad's competition for places, Charles said the group must return and "do a good job in November," pointing to the next phase of international fixtures.
