England manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Arsenal centre-back Ezri Konsa sustained a minor quad injury while on Nations League duty and has been sent back to Arsenal for treatment. Tuchel described the problem as a "light trauma" and said the decision to withdraw Konsa from camp was taken to avoid risking further harm.
Tuchel told reporters: "He got another hit on the quad and that caused a light trauma and we decided not to let him play through this pain. So, he left camp to get treatment for both his issues now. I think [it is] nothing major but not worth the risk taking."
KEY CONTEXT
Konsa has featured in a couple of matches for England this campaign. At club level he has been Gabriel Magalhaes' regular centre-back partner for Arsenal during William Saliba's injury absence since the start of the season. The defender has several days to recover before Arsenal's Saturday fixture against Leeds United and, according to the report, should be deemed fit to start for the Gunners.
