What does Savinho's £75m move reveal about Man City's multi-club model?
WHAT HAPPENED
Manchester City (the flagship club in the City Football Group) has agreed a deal to sell winger Savinho to Tottenham for a reported £75m up front plus £10m in potential add-ons. If completed, the transfer would be the largest fee Manchester City have ever received.

Savinho has been part of the CFG pathway since arriving from Atlético Mineiro via Troyes. He spent time on loan at PSV and at CFG-owned Girona before City purchased him from Troyes for £30.8m in 2024, and then spent two seasons in Manchester before this sale.

KEY CONTEXT
- Savinho joined Troyes as a record signing from Atlético Mineiro in 2022 but never played a competitive match for that club, instead going straight out on loan.
- He spent 2022–23 on loan at PSV and 2023–24 at Girona (a CFG club), where he played 37 league games and registered nine goals and eight assists as Girona qualified for the Champions League for the first time.
- City acquired him from Troyes in 2024 and he made 48 appearances in his first season under Pep Guardiola, contributing 16 goals/assists in all competitions; his eight Premier League assists that campaign were the most at the club. Over his two Premier League seasons he scored twice and provided 12 assists.
- CFG links extend across a network of clubs (reported as 12 worldwide), a structure the organisation says is intended to create pathways to Manchester City while also generating transfer value.

WHY IT MATTERS
The transfer illustrates how the multi-club model can produce large financial returns: buying a teenager from South America, moving him through loan spells, integrating him into Manchester City’s squad and then selling him for a substantially higher fee has produced a major profit for the group.
